For my public speaking class our teacher told us to dress warm and bring a dime. When we arrived we got our mission. We are to take this dime and buy something off someone for this dime. After, we are to sell that object for more money. We then buy something else from someone, then sell it and so on and so forth. We had a blast! We got a pen, clay apple, Christmas decoration, and a really nice Cookie sheet! We tried to sell the cookie sheet and the sweet couple decided they’d pay us ten dollars if we sang to them as well. It was time to go and they gave us ten dollars and as we got in our car we saw that President Clark, the president of BYU-I was walking out to his mailbox! We went up to him and asked him. He invited us in and we were in his house for 30 minutes!!! He’s pretty much a celebrity here. It was so fun to think that we are in the house where apostles come weekly to stay and visit. He wanted to give us something of more worth than $10 so he opened up his bottom drawer in his office and brought out all kinds of cool things… a crystal globe, a major league baseball he pitched on the famous baseball field, a real Olympic Torch he got to run with (it still had gas in it), and a bunch of other really cool things. He’s such a great guy. Just not caring about worldly things… They ended up giving us a necklace Sue didn’t want, and a Mormon Tabernacle Choir CD with our money. They said they didn’t need it. What awesome people! When we came back to class 30 minutes late we had an awesome story to tell. We then went to G’s Dairy—a famous ice cream place in Rexburg! We got the “Holy Cow!” platter that had 13 scoops of ice cream. Yes, four of us ate 13 scoops of ice cream last night.
